Alright, so I'm supposed to be making healthy recipes, since I'm trying to lose weight, but I was craving something chocolate-y, so I pulled out my hand-mixer, raided my cabinets, and ended up making my own, from-scratch whole-wheat Nutella bread recipe that will knock your socks off!
Ingredients
* 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
* 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
* 6 oz. unsweetened applesauce
* 1 large egg
* 4 oz. butter (softened)
* 3/4 cup Nutella
* 1/4 cup Hershey's dark chocolate syrup
* 1 Tbs. olive oil (any oil is ok)
* 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
* 1 tsp. baking powder
* tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Combine all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
Use a hand mixer (or standing mixer) to mix ingredients together. Mix until thoroughly combined and smooth (about 2-3 minutes). Grease a bread pan or small baking dish and add mixture to pan.
Let cook in oven for 25-40 minutes. This really depends on the oven, so keep an eye on it. Mine seems to take a while.
This recipe makes approximately 12 medium-large slices of bread and averages out to around 280 calories per slice. Slightly sinful, but yummy! Drink with almond milk for a delicious experience ;)
Hi Kristin: This has nothing to do with your recipe, above, although it does look delicious. I noticed your comment on the Skinnytaste website about being allergic to avocado and wanted to let you know that avocado allergy is often associated with latex allergy which can be dangerous if you don't know about it and need a medical or dental procedure. Here is a good site explaining this link. http://latexallergyresources.org/allergy-fact-sheet Perhaps you already are aware of this, but I just wanted to let you know in case you weren't, so that you can discuss it with your doctor and stay safe. Thanks. Vivian
ReplyDeleteYou are very sweet to let me know about that. I actually had no idea, so thank you. I will definitely look into it!
DeleteHope you are doing well and thank you for dropping by!
This. Looks. Marvelous! Who can resist good ol' Nutella? Is it sinful if you don't regret eating it one bit?

I think in that case, it's not sinful at all ;)
DeleteYummy! Have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYes! You should! Let me know what you think.
DeleteThis looks so good! I love making loaves and then having a piece for breakfast throughout the week. I feel like I need something sweet to start my day off right!

Yeah! That's how I prefer it too. I'm sure you could still make this and just substitute in for the butter and eggs :)
DeleteOh my, this sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteIt really was fantastic, Chantel! You should definitely try it!
