Thus far, my diet....ehm-healthy lifestyle.... is going well. I am eating a lot more fruits and veggies and I haven't been eating past around 8pm. I am also not drinking anything but green tea and water (besides my coffee, which I refuse to give up).
It hasn't really been too hard to change my eating habits, especially since I am not really refusing myself what I like, I am simply making myself eat certain things LESS and in smaller portions. Yay Me!
This morning for breakfast, I decided to make myself some healthy breakfast bars.
I wanted to be resourceful and use the stuff in my fridge that needed to be eaten. This is always the best way to do things if you want to save money.
For these breakfast bars you will need:
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup Splenda (more if you like things to be really sweet)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup of old fashion oats
1/8 pear (finely chopped)
1/8 apple (finely chopped)
1 egg
1/3 cup unsweetened apple sauce
Cinnamon (at least a tablespoon, but I put more)
Mix ingredients together in bowl. Spread mixture onto brownie pan about an inch thick.
Pre-heat oven to 350, and cook for 15 minutes.
This recipe makes 9 bars.
1 Bar= 111 Calories
These bars are very good for you, and fairly filling. I really enjoy them!
I created these from scratch and from no recipe, so give me feedback on what you think after you make them :)
